Beijing, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : In August, the Chinese automobile industry recorded a significant milestone, with the production of 1.653 million new energy vehicles (NEVs) and sales of 1.643 million units. This reflects a year-on-year increase of nearly 20%, as reported by the China Automobile Manufacturers Association.
The market share of new energy vehicles has strengthened considerably. Notably, NEVs accounted for 60% of total vehicle sales in August, marking an unprecedented high.
During the first eight months of this year, China produced 20.255 million vehicles and sold 20.315 million. Among these, 10.668 million were new energy vehicles, with sales reaching 10.650 million. Both figures represent over a 10% growth compared to the same period last year. The proportion of NEV sales increased to 52.4%.
Additionally, China’s vehicle exports have seen a remarkable surge. In the first eight months of this year, exports reached 7.153 million units, a 66.7% increase from the previous year. This includes 3.435 million new energy vehicles, more than doubling the exports from the same timeframe last year.
This growth underscores China’s commitment to expanding its presence in the global automotive market, particularly in the field of sustainable transportation.
