Chinas Digital Industry Revenue Surges by 12.9% in Q1

Beijing, May 14: China’s digital industry has made a strong start in the first quarter, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The sector has seen significant profit improvements, driven by the rapid integration and application of artificial intelligence.

Data reveals that the digital industry generated a revenue of 9.5 trillion yuan in the first quarter, marking a 12.9% increase compared to the previous year. The electronic information manufacturing sector experienced robust profit growth, contributing to a total profit of 737.8 billion yuan, which is 23.6% higher than last year. This growth rate is 16.6 percentage points above the same period last year.

In the first quarter, internet businesses recorded rapid growth. Enterprises in the internet and related services with annual revenues exceeding 20 million yuan generated 502.7 billion yuan in business revenue, reflecting a 10.6% increase from the previous year. The growth rate has risen by 9.2 percentage points compared to the same period last year.

There has also been a surge in the deployment of computing infrastructure. By the end of March, China had 14.45 million standard racks in use across computing centers, with over 70 large computing channels established around computing hubs.

In terms of revenue, the top ten provinces, including Guangdong, Jiangsu, Beijing, Shanghai, and Zhejiang, contributed 89.1% to the national digital industry revenue growth in the first quarter.
