
Beijing, April 13: According to the China State Railway Group, as of April 12, the international passenger trains on the China-Laos Railway have operated over 3,190 trains in the past three years, serving more than 800,000 cross-border passengers from over 120 countries and regions.
The China-Laos Railway officially commenced operations on April 13, 2023. Over the past three years, transportation has remained safe, stable, and organized, significantly enhancing human exchanges, economic cooperation, and cultural interactions between China and Laos.
Currently, four international passenger trains run daily between Kunming and Vientiane. The seating capacity for cross-border passengers has increased from 250 to 420 per train. Travel time between Kunming and Vientiane has been reduced to 9 hours and 36 minutes, with customs clearance at the Mohan railway border checkpoint taking approximately 50 minutes.
In the first quarter of this year, international passenger trains transported 112,000 cross-border passengers, marking a 32.4% increase compared to the previous year, and the average daily number of cross-border passengers has tripled compared to 2023.
