
Beijing, May 17: The Asian Weightlifting Championship continued in Gandhinagar, India, on May 16, according to Beijing time. On that day, the Chinese weightlifting team achieved remarkable success, securing eight gold medals and one silver across all three weight categories contested.
Liao Guifang excelled in the women’s 77-kilogram category, winning all three gold medals. Her results were impressive: a snatch of 118 kilograms, a clean and jerk of 147 kilograms, and a total lift of 265 kilograms.
In the men’s 94-kilogram category, Tu Yi also claimed all three gold medals. His performance included a snatch of 175 kilograms, a clean and jerk of 211 kilograms, and a total of 386 kilograms.
Feng Chuitiing competed in the women’s 86-kilogram category, earning two gold medals in the snatch and total lift, along with a silver in the clean and jerk. Her results were a snatch of 127 kilograms, a clean and jerk of 143 kilograms, and a total of 270 kilograms. The clean and jerk title was won by Bahrain’s Marushchak with a lift of 145 kilograms.
After four days of competition, the Chinese weightlifting team has amassed a total of 16 gold, 11 silver, and 8 bronze medals.
