China Achieves Youth Exchange Goal Ahead of Schedule

Beijing, May 30: The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Mao Ning, announced on May 29 during a regular press conference that President Xi Jinping recently responded to letters from students participating in the “Friendship Journey between Chinese and American Youth” program.

Mao revealed that since the initiative to invite 50,000 American youth to China for exchange and study was proposed in November 2023, over 50,000 American youths have already visited China. This achievement comes two and a half years ahead of the set target. Through these exchanges, young people from both countries have deepened mutual understanding, forged strong friendships, and opened a new chapter in friendly exchanges between the two nations.

Mao Ning emphasized that, as President Xi Jinping stated, the youth are the most energetic and dream-filled segment of society. They represent the future and hope of global and China-U.S. relations. The aim is to encourage more young people from both countries to embrace the torch of friendship, learn from each other, progress together, and become “ambassadors of friendship” in the Pacific region, contributing to the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.
