New Delhi, June 24: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai met with Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday at the Kartavya Bhawan in New Delhi. The meeting aimed to advance the development of Chhattisgarh as a national center for Ayurveda medicine, research, and higher education.
During the discussion, CM Sai emphasized the establishment of the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in Chhattisgarh, addressing various topics related to state development and public welfare. He was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma.
CM Sai informed the Home Minister that the AIIAs operating in New Delhi and Panaji have become premier centers for Ayurveda-based medicine, research, and innovation in the country. These institutions have successfully integrated modern science with traditional medical practices, significantly enhancing healthcare services and training numerous skilled Ayurveda practitioners and researchers.
He highlighted that Chhattisgarh is rich in natural resources and medicinal wealth. A large part of the state is forested, home to many rare medicinal plants and herbs. Additionally, there exists a rich heritage of traditional medicinal knowledge in tribal areas. Thus, establishing the AIIA in Chhattisgarh could play a crucial role in elevating Ayurveda medicine and research to new heights.
The CM noted that the establishment of the AIIA would provide high-quality healthcare services to the residents of Chhattisgarh and offer opportunities for youth to study, teach, and conduct research at a national-level institution. This initiative would promote Ayurveda-based medical education and help Chhattisgarh carve a new identity in the fields of health, education, and research.
He also mentioned that the benefits of the institute would extend beyond Chhattisgarh, positively impacting a broader region in Central India. Citizens from neighboring states would also gain access to improved Ayurvedic treatment and research facilities.
CM Sai referred to the announcement in the 2026 Union Budget regarding the establishment of three new All India Institutes of Ayurveda and urged that one of these institutions be allocated to Chhattisgarh. He stated that this institute would not only strengthen healthcare services in the state but also accelerate employment, research, and knowledge-based development.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister provided updates on ongoing development projects, infrastructure expansion, and public welfare schemes in remote areas of the state, including Bastar. Home Minister Amit Shah appreciated the efforts being made for development and public welfare in the state, assuring all possible support from the central government.
