Congress Leaders Pay Tribute to Indira Gandhi on Her Death Anniversary

Congress leaders honor Indira Gandhis legacy, highlighting her dedication and sacrifices for the nation on her death anniversary.

New Delhi, October 31 (Daily Kiran) : Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was remembered by Congress leaders on her death anniversary, as they paid tribute to her significant contributions and sacrifices for the nation. Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate, along with Alka Lamba, the national president of the All India Mahila Congress, and Vinod Jakhar, the national president of NSUI, praised her personality and political legacy during the observance.

Supriya Shrinate emphasized that Gandhi’s dedication and ultimate sacrifice for the country would always be remembered. “Today, the entire grateful nation honors her,” she said. She noted that Indira Gandhi made the supreme sacrifice to maintain the unity and integrity of India, calling her contributions unparalleled.

Alka Lamba echoed these sentiments, asserting that Indira Gandhi would never be forgotten. “She will always live in the memories of the people due to her sacrifice and dedication,” Lamba stated. She expressed pride in representing the organization that Indira Gandhi founded, highlighting her efforts to engage women in politics and support their active participation.

Lamba also mentioned that Rajiv Gandhi initiated a 33% reservation for women in local governance, furthering Indira’s vision. She recognized Sonia Gandhi’s role in advancing the Women’s Reservation Bill during Dr. Manmohan Singh’s tenure.

In Hyderabad, Congress leader Rohit Mudiraj criticized opponents questioning Rahul Gandhi‘s commitment to the nation. He pointed out the sacrifices made by the Gandhi family, recalling that Jawaharlal Nehru spent 15 years in prison for the country, while Indira Gandhi gave her life, and Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated. Mudiraj highlighted that Rahul Gandhi is focused on protecting citizens’ rights rather than pursuing power, labeling it unfortunate for others to lecture the Gandhi family on patriotism.
