Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Takes Strong Stance on Building Safety and Illegal Liquor

Raipur, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has issued a stern warning regarding the safety of buildings in the state, emphasizing that any negligence leading to danger for human life will result in accountability for senior officials. During a high-level review meeting conducted via video conferencing from his official residence, he addressed divisional commissioners, police inspectors general, collectors, and other senior administrative and police officials, stressing that the safety of students and citizens is the government’s top priority.

Sai instructed officials to act proactively, saying, “Do not wait for an incident to occur. Identify potential threats in advance and take effective action.” He ordered immediate inspections and safety audits of hostels, paying guest accommodations, coaching centers, schools, and large educational buildings across all districts of Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister insisted that wherever safety deficiencies are discovered, necessary corrective measures must be completed within a specified timeframe.

He specifically urged officials to assess the condition of old and dilapidated buildings in schools, libraries, hostels, and other public spaces. Buildings deemed dangerous must be identified and appropriate actions taken without delay. Sai emphasized that institutions catering to children and students must strictly adhere to safety standards. He called for the establishment of a continuous monitoring system in every district to identify and mitigate threats before any tragedy occurs, rather than responding after a complaint or incident.

In a related initiative, the Chief Minister ordered a statewide crackdown on illegal and adulterated liquor. He directed police, the excise department, and district administration to form joint teams to raid locations suspected of producing, storing, selling, or adulterating illicit alcohol. Special emphasis was placed on tightening surveillance along border areas and major transport routes to prevent the influx of illegal liquor from neighboring states. Officials were instructed to regularly share intelligence and take stringent legal action against those found involved in such activities.
