Chaos Erupts in Rajasthan Funeral as Bees Attack, Two Dead

Jaipur, March 18: A shocking and rare incident involving bee attacks has caused panic in the Begun subdivision of Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. Two people lost their lives, and over 40 others sustained injuries.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when 80-year-old Jamnalal, also known as Jamnesh, was performing a religious ritual in a nearby village. A swarm of bees suddenly attacked him. He was rushed to the district hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries early Wednesday morning.

Tragedy struck again during his funeral at the Parsoli cremation ground. As mourners gathered and preparations began, another swarm of bees descended upon the crowd, leading to chaos. People fled in all directions, forcing the ceremony to be abandoned.

In the ensuing panic, 40 to 50 individuals were stung by the bees, with seven suffering serious injuries requiring immediate hospitalization.

Among the critically injured was 80-year-old Bhavani Shankar Pandya, who was stung nearly 20 times. He passed away within an hour of being admitted to the ICU.

Medical treatment for other victims is ongoing in various wards, including isolation and general medical units. Authorities have taken extraordinary precautions in light of the ongoing threat.

Under medical supervision, a limited team wearing PPE kits returned to the cremation ground to safely complete the funeral.

Local officials, including Sub-Divisional Officer Ankit Samaria and Tehsildar Gopal Jinagar, arrived at the scene to coordinate emergency medical assistance.

The police have begun gathering information to understand these unusual attacks.

Such bee attacks during religious ceremonies and funerals are extremely rare, leaving the local community in shock.
