Chanmari FC Secures Thrilling 2-1 Victory Against Sreenidhi Deccan FC

Aizawl, March 8: Chanmari FC clinched a dramatic 2-1 victory over Sreenidhi Deccan FC in the Indian Football League (IFL) 2025-26, thanks to a stunning stoppage-time goal from Lalruatsanga. The match took place at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Aizawl on Saturday.

This win marks Chanmari FC’s first victory of the season since their promotion. With this result, they now sit second in the points table with four points, while Sreenidhi Deccan is in third place with three points.

Chanmari FC’s head coach, Victor Lalbiakmawia, made a strategic change to his starting lineup, bringing in Brazilian forward Joao Vitor de Paula Morais (Jota) to lead the attack in place of Aaron Vanlalrinchhana. Sreenidhi Deccan’s head coach, Carlos Manuel Vaz Pinto, also made a change, assigning Aryan Neeraj Lamba to goalkeeping duties in place of the injured Roy.

The match began slowly, with both teams focusing on ball possession and hesitant to attack. As the first half progressed, Sreenidhi Deccan began to assert their dominance, creating several golden opportunities to break the deadlock. However, Hardik Bhatt and Fabrice Kahn squandered their chances, leaving the score 0-0 at halftime.

The host team finally broke the deadlock an hour into the game. Taking advantage of a defensive lapse from Sreenidhi, Suangaihamuana provided a clever assist to Jota, who finished brilliantly, leaving the goalkeeper completely confused and giving Chanmari a 1-0 lead.

Sreenidhi Deccan responded aggressively, managing to equalize in the 80th minute. Substitute Paulo Cesar Pereira dos Santos made an immediate impact, scoring with a smart header from a precise assist by Hardik Bhatt, creating a tense atmosphere in the final minutes.

As five minutes of extra time were announced, it seemed the match would end in a 1-1 draw. However, Chanmari FC had other plans. In the 93rd minute (90+3′), substitute Lalruatsanga scored from a sharp assist by Jota, breaking Sreenidhi’s hearts and securing a remarkable 2-1 victory for Aizawl’s team.
