Nawada, March 20: The Nawada police have arrested ten suspects in a significant cybercrime case, along with one minor. This operation was announced by DSP Nishu Malik during a press conference at the Nawada police headquarters.
On March 19, at approximately 12:20 PM, the Warisaliganj police station received information about criminals engaged in cyber fraud near Gurga Farm in Jhaur. Following this tip-off, senior police officials were notified, and a special team was formed under the leadership of the station chief.
The team conducted a raid at the location. During the operation, five suspects were apprehended in Jhaur, while six others were arrested in Godapar village. A search of the suspects revealed a total of 14 Android mobile phones and nine pages of customer data sheets. The arrested individuals were taken to the police station for intensive questioning, and a case has been registered at the Warisaliganj police station.
Investigations revealed that the suspects lured victims by using names of companies like Bajaj Finance and Reliance Finance. They obtained phone numbers through Facebook and other platforms, posing as bank managers or staff to gain the trust of potential victims. Subsequently, they requested sensitive information such as Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, and bank passbooks, collecting money under the guise of processing fees.
The suspects confessed to their crimes during interrogation. The arrested individuals include Rohit Kumar, Shambhu Kumar, Phantush Kumar, Vikas Kumar, Rohit Kumar, Ravi Ranjan Kumar, Amar Kumar, Sumit Raj, Lalu Kumar, and Chandan Kumar. Additionally, one minor was also taken into custody.
Authorities have stated that the arrested suspects have been sent to judicial custody. This operation reflects the police’s commitment to combating cybercrime and fraud, demonstrating their proactive approach against criminals.
