Mumbai, March 26: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Mumbai resident linked to a cyber slavery network. Authorities believe this individual is the mastermind behind an international racket that traffics unsuspecting Indian citizens to Myanmar and other countries for cyber scams.
The suspect, identified as Sunil Nellathu Ramakrishnan, also known as Krish, was apprehended by the CBI upon his recent return to India.
During a search of his residence, the CBI seized incriminating digital evidence related to trafficking operations in Myanmar and Cambodia.
Investigations revealed that he is connected to international criminal gangs that lure victims with enticing job offers in Thailand, only to send them to fraudulent centers in Myanmar’s Myawaddy region, particularly KK Park.
Victims are first transported from Delhi to Bangkok and then secretly sent to Myanmar, where they are forced to work in cyber fraud centers.
The CBI reported that these centers compel victims to engage in various cyber scams, including digital arrest frauds, honey traps, and cryptocurrency investment schemes.
According to a statement, several Indian citizens managed to escape from these fraudulent centers in 2025 and reached Thailand, from where they were repatriated to India in March and November of the same year.
The CBI has conducted detailed interviews with these victims to understand the workings of the trafficking network and the operations of these cyber fraud centers.
Based on the intelligence gathered, the CBI has been conducting a thorough investigation to identify the key players behind these activities. The statement indicated that Sunil, also known as Krish, emerged as one of the main orchestrators of the trafficking network, playing a significant role in the illegal transport and exploitation of victims in Southeast Asia.
The CBI continues its investigation to identify and apprehend other suspects involved in this international trafficking network, aiming to gather comprehensive information about these operations.
