Amsterdam, February 8: Casio has officially launched the G-Shock GX-56UBB-1 across Europe, following its debut in Japan. This stylish watch is now available through official online retailers in the Netherlands, Spain, France, and Germany, priced at €159, consistent with the original cost of the 2016 GX-56BB-1.
The G-Shock GX-56UBB-1 retains the iconic design of the classic GX-56BB-1, featuring a robust all-black case. The updates are primarily internal, with Casio upgrading the module from 3221 to 3545. Additionally, the electroluminescent backlight has been replaced with an LED system, enhancing power efficiency and visibility in low-light conditions.
Measuring 55.5 × 53.6 × 17.5 mm and weighing 88 g, the watch is constructed from durable resin, ensuring it is shock-resistant and water-resistant up to 20 bar. The display is safeguarded by mineral glass, while the resin band accommodates wrist sizes ranging from 150 to 220 mm.
Powered by Casio’s Tough Solar technology, the GX-56UBB-1 features a battery-level indicator and a power-saving mode that deactivates the display in darkness. Under normal usage without light exposure, the battery life can last up to 13 months, extending to 27 months when stored in complete darkness with power-saving enabled.
This model includes world time functionality for 31 time zones across 48 cities, along with Coordinated Universal Time and daylight saving time adjustments. The stopwatch offers precision to 1/100 of a second, with a maximum measurement of 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59.99 seconds. A countdown timer supports up to 24 hours, and the watch is equipped with five daily alarms, an hourly signal, and a fully automatic calendar that runs until 2099.
Timekeeping accuracy is rated at ±15 seconds per month. As of now, Casio has not disclosed any plans for the GX-56UBB-1 to be launched in the US or other regions outside Europe.
