London, April 20: Casio has officially launched its vibrant rainbow ion-plated metal watch, the G-Shock GMW-BZ5000RC-1, in Europe after its successful debut in Japan. The watch is now available for purchase in the UK, with listings also surfacing in various EU markets.
In the UK, the retail price is set at £770. Meanwhile, in countries like Germany and Spain, it is listed as “coming soon” with a price tag of €799.
The GMW-BZ5000RC-1 boasts a full-metal construction, featuring a stainless steel case, bezel, and band. The standout feature is its center case, which showcases a stunning gradient rainbow ion-plated finish. This effect extends to the dial and is complemented by rainbow vapor deposition on the glass. Gold-colored ion-plated screws add contrast, while a blend of hairline and mirror finishes enhances the overall texture.
Structurally, the bezel and center case are connected at the top and bottom, leaving part of the center case exposed. Inside, a resin protector absorbs shocks by deforming upon impact. The watch also includes a screw-lock case back for a secure seal and is water-resistant up to 200 meters.
Casio has utilized artificial intelligence alongside extensive shock resistance data to refine the watch’s structure and component layout. The manufacturing process involves multiple stages of forging, cutting, and polishing, all conducted at Yamagata Casio in Japan, the same facility that produced the original G-Shock models.
For display, the watch features a high-definition MIP LCD with a negative display for improved readability. A companion app allows users to switch between various time layouts and select between STANDARD and CLASSIC font styles. Bluetooth connectivity enables automatic time adjustments, while Multiband 6 radio control ensures precise timekeeping.
Additional features include dual world time, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a countdown timer, and five daily alarms. The Tough Solar system allows the watch to be powered by light-based charging.
