New Delhi, August 11: The recent report from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India has raised significant questions about the functioning of the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi. On Tuesday, BJP leaders reiterated serious allegations against the former Kejriwal administration during a media briefing outside the Delhi Assembly. They claim that the CAG report has unveiled the truth behind the image of ‘staunch honesty’ promoted by the AAP.
Delhi Assembly Deputy Speaker and BJP MLA Mohan Singh Bisht stated, “The CAG report reveals how previous governments engaged in scams and the extent of corruption. Those who claimed to be ‘staunchly honest’ have been exposed by this report.”
He emphasized that the discussion on corruption aims to inform the public about the truth. “There are no provisions for punishment or actions against the individuals from the previous government. However, it is crucial for the public to understand that the past administrations were involved in scams,” he added.
Delhi government minister Ravinder Inderraj Singh presented figures claiming that the CAG report indicates allegations of corruption amounting to approximately ₹30,000 to ₹35,000 crores against the previous AAP-led government. “The people of Delhi and the nation deserve to know the true face of the past government,” he asserted.
BJP MLA Shikha Roy insisted that there should be a detailed discussion on the CAG report. “Everyone should be aware of how the previous government, namely the AAP, deceived the people of Delhi, wasted their money, and engaged in corruption. Once these issues are highlighted in the CAG report, we will demand that it be sent to the Public Accounts Committee for a thorough review,” she stated.
Additionally, Delhi government minister Pravesh Verma recently targeted the former Kejriwal administration during a press conference. He claimed that the 24 CAG reports released so far have revealed irregularities and alleged scams amounting to about ₹15,000 crores. Verma raised concerns regarding issues such as GST dues, e-way bills, electricity subsidies, manual tenders, recruitment in the Delhi Jal Board, and the costs associated with LNJP Hospital.
