Preity Zinta Reveals How Kids Remember Amitabh Bachchan on KBC

Mumbai, August 11: The much-anticipated premiere of the quiz reality show “Kaun Banega Crorepati” has kicked off, featuring Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta as guests alongside Aamir Khan.

During a lively conversation on the hot seat, Preity Zinta shared how megastar Amitabh Bachchan is a favorite in her household. This revelation came when she asked Bachchan, “Who is the most popular in the film industry at home?” To which the Big B jokingly replied, “No one.”

Zinta explained that her children know Amitabh Bachchan primarily through his famous song “Mere Paas Aao Mere Doston” from the film “Mr. Natwarlal.” She said, “My kids love your song ‘Mere Paas Aao Mere Doston.’ They often say to me, ‘Mom, play the lion song… Mere paas aao mere…’ They always hum those jingles you create.”

This prompted laughter in the studio, and Bachchan humorously reflected on how today’s generation perceives his 55-year cinematic legacy. He noted, “Thank goodness they relate to some film of mine. Kids come here with their parents and say, ‘Sir, our little one is 5 years old; after watching the movie, he calls you KBC Uncle.’ After 50-55 years in the industry, having worked in so many films, they don’t even mention a character’s name; they only remember KBC.”

The song “Mere Paas Aao Mere Doston,” featured in the 1979 film “Mr. Natwarlal,” was the first song sung by Amitabh Bachchan as a playback singer. It was composed by Rajesh Roshan and penned by Anand Bakshi.
