New Delhi, September (Udaipur Kiran News) — Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has confirmed plans to roll out 5G services in key metro cities by the end of 2025, starting with Delhi and Mumbai.

A senior BSNL official stated that the company is preparing to introduce 5G in these metros, even as its long-delayed 4G rollout is still being executed. Currently, BSNL lags behind private telecom operators in overall network experience, but the move signals its ambition to compete in the 5G space.
Delhi and Mumbai were originally served by Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL). However, due to operational challenges, MTNL’s mobile services are now being managed by BSNL, creating a unified service structure for telecom customers across the country.
BSNL’s push towards 5G comes as it prepares to launch PAN-India 4G services on September 27, 2025. The state-run telco hopes that the transition from 4G to 5G will position it as a stronger alternative to private players such as Jio and Airtel.
Whether BSNL customers see significant improvements in service quality with these rollouts remains to be seen.
