New Delhi, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : The 18th BRICS Summit is set to take place at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from September 11 to 13, 2026. In light of the event, security measures have been heightened across the city. Several key locations, including the Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum and Amrit Udyan, will be closed to visitors during this period.
Officials have confirmed that both the Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum and Amrit Udyan will be inaccessible to the public from Friday through Sunday. A spokesperson noted that the “Change of Guard” ceremony typically held at Rashtrapati Bhavan will also be suspended on Saturday.
These measures aim to minimize disruptions for BRICS representatives and reduce pedestrian traffic around the summit venue. Additionally, the Delhi Metro has announced that its museum at the Supreme Court metro station will be closed for three days starting Friday. The Delhi government has declared a holiday for its offices on September 11, with the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions issuing an official circular confirming the closure of central government offices.
On Friday, the Delhi Police released a traffic advisory in anticipation of the summit. The advisory indicated that major routes in the city would experience traffic diversions from 2 PM to 8:30 PM. Authorities urged commuters to plan their journeys in advance, allowing extra travel time, and to utilize public transport, particularly the metro. They also emphasized the importance of following the designated diversion routes and instructions from traffic personnel. Emergency and essential service vehicles will be given priority.
Earlier, the Delhi Traffic Police informed the public about changes to court proceedings due to the summit. The national Lok Adalat scheduled for September 12 will now take place on October 10. According to police, lower courts will be closed on September 11 and 12, with hearings for cases scheduled on those dates postponed to September 14. The traffic police have appealed to citizens and cab drivers to consult the advisory regarding restricted routes during the BRICS Summit.
Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic), stated that the advisory is being disseminated through the Delhi Police website, social media platforms, and print media to ensure minimal inconvenience for the public. He added, “We have established 22 diversion points to manage traffic flow, and our staff has been instructed to provide information on the diverted routes as needed.”
