New Delhi, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : England’s red-ball coach, Brendan McCullum, has advised all-rounder Brydon Carse to focus on his off-field behavior. McCullum emphasized that any decline in professional conduct could lead to changes in the team lineup.
“I’ve had extensive conversations with Carse. The message for everyone is clear: those wishing to represent England in white-ball cricket over the next 12 to 18 months must make sound decisions off the field to reach their best potential,” McCullum stated. He added that the fast-paced life of international cricket demands such commitment, noting that there is plenty of talent ready to take opportunities if others falter.
Regarding Carse, McCullum acknowledged his talent, saying, “We know he is a fantastic player who has performed well for England. This is a great chance for him to improve himself and push for selection in the future.”
McCullum expressed his ambition for the team, stating, “I want us to be the fittest, strongest, and most dynamic one-day and T20 team in the world. Achieving this requires hard work, dedication to training, and physical fitness, alongside the responsibilities we have off the field.”
Carse was recently arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly after an incident in Derby, which occurred following Durham’s victory over Derbyshire in the County Championship. Derbyshire police confirmed an assault was involved. After the police case was closed, Carse will face scrutiny from cricket regulators.
As a result of this incident, Carse was removed from the Test squad for the upcoming series against Pakistan and was also overlooked for limited-overs matches against Sri Lanka.
