Jalandhar, September 30 (Daily Kiran) : An alarming bomb threat has emerged just ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah‘s scheduled rally in Jalandhar. The threat was conveyed through an email received on Tuesday morning, just hours before the event set for Wednesday in Pragpur.
The email, allegedly sent by an individual claiming to be affiliated with the Khalistan National Army, warned of potential attacks on the rally site, local schools, the Devi Talab Temple, and the district court. The sender identified himself as Engineer Gurnakh Singh, along with others, and used provocative language throughout the message.
In the email, the sender stated, “Jalandhar school at 11:11 AM, Devi Talab at 12:11 PM” would be targeted. It also claimed that explosives were placed beneath Amit Shah’s stage, threatening to detonate the entire platform. Furthermore, it was asserted that bombs had been planted in 2-3 of the 2000 buses expected to transport attendees to the rally.
The email continued with a chilling message urging recipients to protect their children and avoid attending the rally. It mentioned a plan to detonate explosives from the LR Doaba School grounds towards the Devi Talab Temple, aiming to eliminate Shah.
Additionally, the sender threatened to disrupt court proceedings at 2:11 PM and office activities at 3:11 PM. The message also labeled the BJP as an enemy of Sikhs, referencing past attacks on the Darbar Sahib.
In response to the threat, Punjab police and central security agencies have heightened their alert status. Security has been intensified at the rally venue, the Devi Talab Temple, the district court, and the schools mentioned in the email. Bomb squads and dog units are conducting thorough searches at all identified locations.
While security measures were already stringent for Amit Shah’s rally, the recent threat has prompted further enhancements to ensure safety.
