Body of Missing Patient Found at MGM Hospital in Jamshedpur, Family Alleges Murder

Jamshedpur, March 24: A shocking incident unfolded late Monday night at MGM Hospital, the largest government hospital in Jharkhand, when the body of a 50-year-old patient, Sunil Yadav, was discovered under suspicious circumstances. Yadav had been admitted to the hospital nine days prior for treatment.

Residents of the Bagbera area, Sunil Yadav went missing from his ward after being admitted. His decomposed body was found near a garbage pile by the lab’s boundary wall. A cannula, still attached to his hand, confirmed that he had disappeared while under the hospital’s care.

Following this incident, enraged family members created a ruckus at the hospital, accusing the management of murder and demanding a high-level investigation. According to the family, Sunil Yadav was admitted on March 13 after complaining of weakness. He was present in his ward until the night of March 14 but was suddenly found missing from his bed on the morning of March 15.

His son, Abhay Yadav, stated that CCTV footage showed his father walking towards the main gate of the hospital around 11 PM on March 14, after which there was no trace of him. The family claims they had been pleading with hospital management and police for nine days, but no action was taken. It was only when a foul odor emanated from a corner of the hospital that the grim discovery was made.

Locals and family members suspect that the body, which appeared to be several days old, was deliberately discarded there. Upon receiving the information, MGM police arrived at the scene and managed to calm the agitated family.

The police have taken possession of the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The station officer stated that the exact cause of death would be determined after the post-mortem report is received. However, the police are investigating both murder and negligence angles.

In light of this significant oversight, the hospital management is now on the defensive and has hastily implemented new security measures. These include installing grills on ward windows, locking sliding doors, and prohibiting patients from leaving the premises after 9 PM.

Additionally, the hospital administration has mandated that patients without family members must be accompanied by a nurse or attendant when using the restroom.
