New Delhi, March 24: A massive fire broke out early Tuesday at a plywood warehouse in the Bawana Sector-2 industrial area, causing chaos in the vicinity. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries.
According to the fire department, the blaze spread rapidly, engulfing the area in thick smoke and creating a panic among local residents. The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) received the alert around 3:55 AM, prompting immediate rescue and relief operations.
Initially, three fire engines, two water tankers, and a quick response vehicle were dispatched to the scene. However, due to the large quantity of flammable plywood and other materials stored inside the warehouse, the fire intensified quickly. Recognizing the severity of the situation, the fire department strategically sent additional fire tenders, ultimately deploying a total of 17 fire trucks to combat the flames.
Fire crews on-site launched an immediate firefighting campaign, managing to gain partial control of the fire after several hours of strenuous effort. The flames were so fierce that nearby factories were also at risk, but firefighters successfully prevented the situation from escalating further.
During the operation, a firefighter named Prashant sustained minor injuries to his hand. He was promptly taken to a nearby hospital, where he received first aid and was later discharged. Officials reported that he is now in good condition.
Fire department officials have yet to determine the cause of the fire. Initial investigations suggest that a short circuit or other technical issues may be to blame. Currently, efforts to fully extinguish the fire and conduct cooling operations are ongoing.
In the aftermath of the incident, authorities have heightened vigilance and instructed nearby industrial units to adhere to safety standards. Thankfully, there have been no casualties, although significant damage has occurred to the warehouse’s contents.
