New Delhi, March 22: A significant turn of events unfolded in Delhi’s political landscape as BJP workers staged a protest against their own party leaders. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) seized the opportunity to raise serious allegations against the government. AAP’s MCD co-in-charge, Praveen Kumar, claimed on Saturday that the “four-engine” government in Delhi has completely failed.
He pointed out that not only the general public but also BJP workers are dissatisfied with the government’s functioning. Kumar referred to an incident from March 18, where workers protested against the MCD’s leader of the house and deputy chairman at the Rohini zone office.
Reports indicate that the workers had come to voice complaints about the garbage issue in their area but were denied a hearing. Frustrated, they resorted to protests. According to Kumar, this incident exemplifies the government’s inability to address the issues faced by its own workers.
He further stated that if party officials are not listening to their own workers, how can they expect to resolve the public’s problems? Kumar accused the government of failing in waste management, basic amenities, and administrative functions. AAP co-in-charge Preeti Dogra also launched a sharp attack on the BJP.
She asserted that the BJP gained power through grand promises but is now failing to manage Delhi effectively. Dogra questioned how the public could expect justice when even the workers are being ignored. AAP councilor Pradeep Mittal from the Rithala ward described the incident as “shameful,” citing a severe shortage of staff and resources in the MCD.
He claimed that the lack of adequate funding and personnel is hampering essential services like garbage collection, sewer cleaning, and road repairs. Mittal warned that the situation has deteriorated to the point where garbage piles are common, and sewer blockages are frequent, increasing the risk of diseases. He also stated that if improvements are not made soon, the public will hold the BJP accountable in the upcoming elections.
