New Delhi, March 9: BJP MP Dharmbir Singh expressed strong support for Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in light of the opposition’s no-confidence motion against him. Singh stated on Monday that they have witnessed many speakers, but none compare to Birla’s effectiveness. He emphasized that Birla provides ample opportunities for opposition members to voice their concerns.
Singh criticized the opposition for bringing forth accusations without substantial evidence. He noted that while they propose a no-confidence motion, they seem reluctant to engage in meaningful discussion. When the topic of debate arose, the opposition preferred to discuss global issues, despite the Foreign Minister’s statements on the matter. This led to disruptions instead of constructive dialogue.
During the ongoing budget session, Singh highlighted the importance of parliament members expressing their views. He lamented the prevailing negativity in discussions, asserting that this is not conducive to productive governance. The Foreign Minister has clarified various points regarding international matters, yet the opposition continues to avoid participating in discussions.
In a separate context, Singh congratulated Team India for their victory in the T20 World Cup final, stating that the unity displayed by the Indian team has astonished the world. He remarked that such solidarity is crucial for India’s progress. Prime Minister Modi has also emphasized that unity is key to realizing the vision of a developed India by 2047.
LJP (Ram Vilas) MP Arun Bharti also commented on the no-confidence motion against Speaker Birla, expressing hope that the opposition will present their arguments with evidence. He pointed out that the current evidence indicates that the opposition has been given more speaking time than allotted. If they claim they are being silenced, they should back their statements with proof, as the opposition seems more inclined to create chaos than engage in dialogue.
