New Delhi, April 6: The verbal clash between leaders of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections. TMC claims that Mamata Banerjee will secure a fourth term as Chief Minister, while BJP leaders assert that the people of Bengal will choose a government focused on development.
In a conversation in Kolkata, BJP leader Indranil Khan stated that the atmosphere favors the BJP. He claimed that the TMC’s support is waning, leading them to resort to violence. “The people of Bengal are watching everything and are ready to give a decisive response in the elections,” he said.
Khan criticized the TMC for the ongoing issues in West Bengal, suggesting that the party lacks faith in fair elections. He accused the TMC of forming a government with the help of illegal voters and stated that they do not believe in the rule of law. “Mamata Banerjee’s party seems to think that the government is theirs, and therefore, the law is theirs too. However, they must understand that this is India. No leader or worker can go against the country’s laws, regardless of how long they have been in power,” he added.
Regarding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Khan emphasized its necessity, arguing that there should be one law for everyone in the country. “When development programs and government schemes are implemented, they should be equal for all. No one checks who is Hindu, Muslim, Christian, or Jain. Therefore, the law should also be the same for everyone,” he stated.
BJP leader Ritesh Tiwari remarked that this time, the TMC’s exit is inevitable, asserting that the time for their departure has come. He expressed confidence that the BJP is heading toward a significant victory. The results will be announced on May 4, and Tiwari believes the BJP will form the next government in the state.
Voting for 294 assembly seats in West Bengal will take place in two phases, with results set to be declared on May 4.
