New Delhi, April 20: BJP leader Gaurav Vallabh has claimed that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will lose the upcoming elections in Bhawanipur, asserting that the BJP will usher in a new era of good governance in West Bengal.
Speaking in New Delhi, Vallabh stated that over the past 15 years, CM Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) have betrayed the people with their slogan of ‘Maa, Mati, Manush’. He criticized the current government for fostering an environment of lawlessness and chaos. He alleged that whenever incidents of sexual harassment occurred, Banerjee’s administration attempted to shield the perpetrators. “The exit of TMC from Bengal is certain on May 4. A BJP government focused on good governance is on the horizon,” he declared.
Vallabh also commented on Tejashwi Yadav’s strained relationships with his sisters, suggesting that they are upset with him. He accused Yadav of wanting to deny rights to mothers and sisters in Bihar.
He emphasized that leaders like Tejashwi Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav, Abhishek Banerjee, MK Stalin, and Rahul Gandhi should heed his words. “We are committed to providing reservations for women, and we will fulfill this promise,” he stated.
Regarding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Vallabh remarked that it has been a long-standing demand of the people since independence. He noted that the Constitution and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar envisioned its implementation, but appeasement politics delayed it until 2014. “Now is the time to implement UCC in the country,” he asserted.
In response to Akhilesh Yadav’s comments on the Women’s Reservation Bill, Vallabh criticized him for using derogatory terms for women. He pointed out that despite being the Chief Minister of the most populous state, Yadav’s understanding of women seems limited to his relatives, showing a disconnect from the common women of Uttar Pradesh. Vallabh challenged Yadav to explain why he denied women their rightful reservations.
He also took a jab at senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot, suggesting he should spend less time with Rahul Gandhi, as Gehlot’s recent statements reflect Gandhi’s rhetoric.
