Kolkata, September 28 (Daily Kiran) : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken aim at former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee following her recent appeal for unity among opposition parties. Dilip Ghosh, a BJP leader and minister in the West Bengal government, criticized Banerjee for seeking alliances now when she previously did not consult Congress during elections.
Speaking to reporters in New Town, Ghosh remarked, “When her party contested elections here, did she consult anyone? Not even Congress. Now, in her desperation, she is running to everyone.” He added, “Today, she is reaching out because the situation has turned against her.”
Ghosh pointed out that the electorate has given Banerjee a significant mandate to be in the opposition, stating, “81 is not a small number; we had less than that in the last five years.” He accused Banerjee of destabilizing the opposition, saying, “She first took away our party members. Now she can’t even unify her own party. Who will listen to her?”
In light of recent violence involving AITC MLA Kunal Ghosh, he claimed, “Kunal Ghosh deliberately provokes attacks to stay in the news. That is his only aim.”
On international matters, Ghosh expressed concern over the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, stating, “The war is affecting the global economy. The world is facing numerous challenges, and this conflict is troubling for everyone. It needs to end.”
He also commented on Pakistan’s internal issues, questioning its ability to promote peace. “What can Pakistan do? They have no peace in their own country—no food, fuel, or clean water. Their education and healthcare systems are collapsing. Who will listen to them? Yes, when India speaks, and Prime Minister Modi speaks, the world listens.”
