Ranchi, April 21: BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdev has asserted that the party will form the government in West Bengal following the upcoming assembly elections. He stated that the public has grown disillusioned with the TMC, leading them to support the BJP this time.
In a conversation with a news agency, Shahdev commented on the political landscape of West Bengal. He noted that the state previously experienced communist rule, which denied the existence of God, followed by Congress’s governance characterized by appeasement politics. According to him, the current government under Mamata Banerjee has exacerbated these trends.
Shahdev accused the TMC of engaging in appeasement politics to such an extent that it resembles conditions found in countries like Pakistan. He criticized the policies aimed at pleasing specific communities, claiming they contradict democratic values.
When discussing Tamil Nadu’s politics, he referred to the ongoing dispute between the DMK and actor Vijay’s party as a personal matter, clarifying that the BJP does not wish to comment on it. He claimed that the BJP is contesting elections robustly in Tamil Nadu and that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is entirely united. He also expressed optimism about the possibility of an NDA government forming in the state for the first time, with the BJP as a key partner.
Additionally, Shahdev shared his views on the controversy surrounding Lenscard’s ‘Staff Uniform and Grooming Guide.’ He emphasized that companies must understand that hurting religious sentiments in the name of business or marketing is unacceptable.
He reiterated that India is a secular nation, but this does not justify targeting any particular religion or tradition. Shahdev opposed any restrictions on religious practices, such as the application of tilak, asserting that the country respects eternal traditions and will not accept policies that harm religious beliefs.
