Bihars NDA Poised for Victory in Rajya Sabha Elections Amid Political Tensions

Patna, March 16: The results of the Rajya Sabha elections for five seats in Bihar are becoming clear. The NDA is expected to secure victories in all five seats. Only a formal announcement is pending. Reports indicate that all NDA legislators participated in the voting, while four legislators from the Grand Alliance were absent.

Following the elections, political rhetoric in the state has intensified. Union Minister and leader of the Hindustani Awam Morcha, Jitan Ram Manjhi, targeted the RJD and Congress on the social networking site X, stating, “When tickets are sold for money, legislators will indeed turn off their phones.”

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha accused the RJD and Congress of treating their own legislators like bonded laborers, keeping them confined in hotels. He remarked that this has been a longstanding political culture for the RJD and Congress.

Sinha emphasized that creating an atmosphere of fear is a tactic used by the Grand Alliance. Controlling their own members through intimidation has become a part of their political strategy. JD(U) leader Ashok Chaudhary criticized the leadership of the RJD and Congress, claiming they cannot even manage their own legislators. Despite confining their members in hotels, some still managed to escape.

Chaudhary questioned whether any NDA legislator had fled, asserting that the NDA members remained active. He pointed out that the leadership lacks trust in their own legislators, which inevitably leads to defections. Reports confirm that four legislators from the Grand Alliance, including one from the RJD and three from Congress, did not arrive at the assembly to vote.
