Bihar Sub-Inspector Arrested for Accepting Bribe of ₹50,000

A sub-inspector in Bihars Buxar district was arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹50,000 to influence a case.

Buxar, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : A sub-inspector stationed at the Brahmapur police station in Buxar district, Bihar, was arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹50,000. The operation was conducted by a team from the Vigilance Investigation Bureau led by DSP Vinod Kumar.

The officer, identified as Neeraj Kumar, was caught red-handed after the complainant reported the incident to the vigilance department. According to the complaint, Kumar had demanded the money in exchange for assistance in a case.

Frustrated by the officer’s demands, the complainant contacted the vigilance bureau, which then set up a sting operation. The team instructed the complainant to hand over the money at a pre-arranged location. As soon as Neeraj Kumar accepted the bribe, he was apprehended by the vigilance team.

Ashish Chaube, a member of the vigilance team, confirmed that the action was based on the complaint alleging that the officer solicited ₹50,000 to interfere in the investigation.

The arrest was confirmed by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Dumraon, Ranjan, who stated that an investigation is currently underway. Following the arrest, vigilance officials interrogated Kumar at a private hotel near the national highway in Brahmapur, gathering further details regarding the bribery and the complaint.

Kumar is expected to be presented before a special vigilance court in Patna for further legal proceedings. This incident follows the arrest of another officer, Rajendra Ram, by Bihar’s Economic Offenses Unit on October 10, related to irregularities in the identification and auction of a vehicle seized with illegal liquor in Gopalganj.
