Patna, May 8: Bihar’s Vaishali police have claimed a significant breakthrough in a sensational robbery case that occurred on the night of April 21 at the home of a gold trader in Mahnar.
The police have arrested three suspects involved in this crime, including two Nepalese nationals. They are accused of being part of an inter-state and cross-border criminal network.
One of the most crucial developments in this case is the arrest of Jairam Paswan. The police have identified him as a notorious robber from Nepal, who allegedly played a key role in orchestrating the heist.
According to Vaishali Superintendent of Police (SP) Vikram Sihag, this is the first time Jairam Paswan has been apprehended, despite being involved in criminal activities since 1998.
Police records indicate that Jairam Paswan has a total of 24 criminal cases registered against him in various districts of Nepal and Bihar.
The other two suspects have been identified as Bhola Sah and Rajiv Singh. Police reported that Bhola Sah has 11 robbery cases against him, while Rajiv Singh faces charges in two robbery cases.
Authorities revealed that the robbery was a collaborative effort between criminals from Bihar and Nepal. SP Vikram Sihag noted that the plot for this heist was allegedly hatched in Bettiah, where Bihar and Nepalese criminals gathered during a wedding ceremony.
After devising a detailed plan, the gang reportedly targeted the home of a gold trader in Mahnar, executed the robbery, and fled the scene.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) first arrested Rajiv Singh from Shivhar district. Information obtained during his interrogation led the police to successfully locate and arrest Jairam Paswan and Bhola Sah. The police stated that the suspects face multiple serious charges, including robbery, violations of the Arms Act, and bomb-related offenses.
According to the SP, Jairam Paswan managed to evade arrest for nearly three decades by fleeing to Malaysia after committing crimes and returning after long intervals to continue his illegal activities.
The police have recovered two stolen motorcycles from Jairam Paswan’s possession. However, the valuable items stolen during the robbery have yet to be recovered.
Authorities reported that Idris Nat, believed to be the alleged mastermind behind this Bihar gang, along with several other suspects, remains at large. Raids are currently underway to apprehend them.
Following this success, SP Vikram Sihag announced that the Mahnar SDPO team, the District Intelligence Unit (DIU), and police personnel involved in solving this case will be honored for their contributions.
