Bihar Chief Minister Honors Ishan Kishan with ₹1 Crore for T20 World Cup Victory

New Delhi, May 15: Ishan Kishan, the wicketkeeper-batsman who played a crucial role in leading Team India to victory in the T20 World Cup 2026, was honored by Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary with a cash prize of ₹1 crore. The Chief Minister also extended his best wishes to Ishan for his successful cricket career.

The Chief Minister shared pictures with Ishan on his social media account, ‘X’, stating, “As a member of the victorious Indian cricket team in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, I am proud to honor Bihar’s own Ishan Kishan with ₹1 crore for his significant contribution to winning the World Cup. Best wishes for your successful cricket career; keep making Bihar proud.”

Ishan’s performance in the T20 World Cup 2026 was outstanding. Batting at number three, he made significant contributions, scoring 317 runs in nine matches at an impressive strike rate of 193. He hit three half-centuries, with a top score of 77 runs. Ishan was the second-highest run-scorer for India in the tournament, following Sanju Samson.

In the final match against New Zealand, Ishan showcased his skills with a rapid 54 runs off just 25 balls. This helped the Indian team set a formidable target of 255 runs after losing five wickets in 20 overs. New Zealand, chasing a target of 256 runs, was bowled out for just 159 runs. Jasprit Bumrah excelled with the ball, taking four wickets for only 15 runs in his four overs. Under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian team became the first to win the T20 World Cup on home soil and the first to defend the title in cricket’s shortest format.
