Mumbai, April 20: Inter Milan has set its sights on Parma midfielder Mandela Keita as a key target for the upcoming summer transfer window. To secure the Belgium international, the club will need to meet a price tag of at least €20 million. Keita has emerged as one of Serie A’s standout defensive midfielders this season.
As reported by L’Interista, while no formal negotiations have commenced between the two clubs, Inter’s interest in Keita is serious. The club is planning a significant revamp of its midfield.
Keita’s recent performance against Napoli highlights his value, showcasing six defensive contributions, including four recoveries, four interceptions, and two defensive clearances in just one match.
Keita’s Role in Chivu’s Tactical Setup
Keita fits perfectly into coach Cristian Chivu’s envisioned 3-4-2-1 formation. He is a ball-winning, press-resistant midfielder, adept at disrupting opponents and providing defensive cover.
Moreover, he could form a strong partnership with Aleksandar Stankovic, whose return from Club Brugge is nearly finalized as Inter prepares to activate a €23 million buy-back clause.
This midfield strategy is starting to take shape, combining Stankovic’s energy with Keita’s defensive prowess, offering Chivu a fresh dynamic compared to the current setup that has driven Inter’s Scudetto campaign.
However, Parma is unlikely to part with Keita easily. The club is aware of his exceptional form and intends to leverage it in negotiations.
