Bangladeshi Couple Arrested in Kerala for Illegal Residency

Thiruvananthapuram, June 8: A Bangladeshi couple residing illegally in Kollam district, Kerala, has been arrested by security agencies during a joint operation. The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Military Intelligence collaborated in this action, which took place in the Neendakara area.

According to officials, the couple had been living in India for several years without valid documentation.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Milan Khan and Mukul Khandal, originally from the Gulsha Gali area in Bagerhat district, near Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Initial investigations reveal that Milan Khan arrived in India nearly ten years ago and settled in the Chalakudy area of Thrissur district. Approximately three years ago, he brought his wife to India, and they subsequently established their residence in Kollam district. Reports indicate that the couple has been living in Kerala for the past three years without any legal authorization.

During the raid, investigators discovered Indian documents in the couple’s possession, along with Bangladeshi national identity cards. Authorities are now probing how the couple obtained these Indian documents and under what circumstances.

Given the seriousness of the case, the Chavara police have taken the couple into custody. They have been charged under the Immigration and Foreigners Act of 2025. Police and other security agencies are now investigating the entire network to determine who assisted the couple in residing in India and acquiring documentation.

Security agencies are treating the case as a matter of national security and are examining every aspect of the situation.
