Ashok Kirtaniya Takes Office in Nabanna, Reflects on Journey from Outsider to Minister

Kolkata, May 11: A new chapter in West Bengal’s political landscape has begun following the formation of the BJP government. Newly appointed minister Ashok Kirtaniya arrived at Nabanna to assume his responsibilities. He expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, describing this moment as a victory for BJP workers’ perseverance.

Nabanna, the 14-story state secretariat located in Howrah, currently serves as the headquarters of the West Bengal government due to the ongoing renovation of the historic Writers’ Building. After taking the oath of office, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari visited Nabanna for the first time on Monday, where he received a guard of honor.

During a media interaction, BJP MLA and Minister Ashok Kirtaniya spoke emotionally, stating, “This is the achievement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. There was a time when we were treated as outsiders in our own country. Today, the first BJP government has been formed in West Bengal, and I have been given a place in the cabinet. I express my heartfelt gratitude to PM Modi and Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari for this.”

Kirtaniya emphasized that this achievement is not just personal but a victory for the millions of BJP workers who have struggled for years. He expressed confidence that the new government will meet the expectations of the people of Bengal and contribute to the state’s development.

Ashok Kirtaniya represents the Bongaon North (SC) assembly seat and hails from the influential Matua community, which plays a significant role in the politics of the bordering districts. He holds a BA degree from Dinabandhu Mahavidyalaya, affiliated with Calcutta University. His long-standing involvement in the BJP organization has generated considerable excitement among his supporters with his recent cabinet appointment.
