Jaipur, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : Ashok Gehlot, a senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, has raised alarms about the deteriorating situation in the country. His comments come in response to the Supreme Court‘s directives on restoring normal operations for metro and railway services, as well as internet connectivity in Delhi.
Speaking to the media, Gehlot stated, “The conditions within the country are becoming increasingly serious. The Supreme Court is convening on a Sunday to address the unprecedented issue of why metro services have been halted. This is a historical first.” He expressed concerns that the court may also need to address the arrests of lawyers, questioning the government’s motives behind the chaos it has created in Delhi.
Gehlot highlighted the extensive barricading throughout Delhi, which has resulted in citizens facing restrictions and mistreatment. He noted that these individuals are not outsiders but fellow citizens. The detention of several leaders has raised alarm, with some released while others remain in custody. “This is a matter of great concern. The government should engage in dialogue with the opposition and address the fears regarding electoral irregularities,” he urged.
He further criticized the treatment of prominent lawyers like Kapil Sibal, who have reported that legal proceedings for lawyers are being ignored. Gehlot pointed out that this marks the first time opposition leaders such as Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge are facing unjust treatment. He emphasized that the respect owed to the opposition is lacking, undermining the proper functioning of democracy in the country.
