Arunachal Pradesh Team Excluded from Vinoo Mankad Trophy, Says BCCI Secretary

New Delhi, October 8 (Daily Kiran) : The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Devjeet Saikia announced that no team from Arunachal Pradesh will compete in the ongoing Vinoo Mankad Trophy.

In an interview, Saikia explained that the Arunachal Cricket Association is currently embroiled in a legal dispute, with two factions involved in a case at the Guwahati High Court‘s Itanagar bench. He noted that the court had issued stay orders affecting the association’s operations a few months ago.

“The case pending before the bench has left the Arunachal Cricket Association without any officials,” Saikia stated. He added that the hearing for this matter occurred in the first week of September, but a decision is yet to be rendered. Consequently, the association has been unable to prepare a team for the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, resulting in their absence at the junior men’s level.

Regarding the upcoming Ranji Trophy, which starts on October 11, Saikia expressed uncertainty about Arunachal Pradesh’s participation. “Everyone is waiting for the court’s decision. Since the matter is in court, the BCCI cannot intervene. As long as the board remains non-functional due to legal issues, participation is uncertain,” he remarked.

The Vinoo Mankad Trophy is a domestic one-day cricket tournament for under-19 teams, commencing on October 8, 2026. A total of 36 teams are participating, divided into six groups. Elite Group A features teams from Hyderabad, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Baroda, and Manipur. Elite Group B includes Punjab, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Bihar.
