Srinagar, October 14 (Daily Kiran): Indian Army troops successfully foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, killing two terrorists in an intense exchange of fire.

According to officials, soldiers on patrol spotted suspicious movement near the LoC and immediately engaged the infiltrators. “During the operation to intercept the infiltrators, a heavy exchange of gunfire took place between the terrorists and security forces. So far, two terrorists have been neutralized,” an official said. Further details are awaited.
Increased Vigil Ahead of Winter
Officials stated that with winter snowfall approaching, when mountain passes close due to heavy snow, the Army and security forces have intensified round-the-clock surveillance along the LoC and adjoining areas to prevent any infiltration attempts.
Intelligence reports suggest that a large number of terrorists are waiting at launch pads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), looking to cross into Indian territory before the passes shut. The estimated number of infiltrators attempting to cross over could be around 100, though figures often vary based on movement and intelligence inputs.
Counter-Terror Operations Continue
Security forces, including the Army, BSF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police, continue to conduct counter-terrorism operations to dismantle the terror network across the Union Territory, targeting terrorists, overground workers (OGWs), and local supporters.
While the Indian Army guards the LoC, the Border Security Force (BSF) secures the International Border (IB). The LoC stretches for about 740 km, covering Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora districts in the Valley and parts of Jammu district, whereas the 240-km International Border runs through Jammu, Samba, and Kathua districts.
Drone Surveillance and Countermeasures
Security agencies have reported that drones from across the border are being used to smuggle weapons, ammunition, drugs, and cash into Indian territory. These supplies are then picked up by local associates to aid terror operations. To tackle this growing threat, the Army and BSF have deployed advanced anti-drone systems along the LoC and the International Border.
