Mumbai: Renowned singer Arijit Singh, known for his hit songs in films like ‘Barfi’, ‘Jagga Jasoos’, ‘Ludo’, and ‘Metro’, has announced his retirement from playback singing. After a successful career filled with numerous chartbusters, Arijit Singh has decided to step away from singing for Hindi cinema.
Reacting to this decision, singer Armaan Malik expressed his respect and good wishes for Arijit Singh’s future journey. On the social media platform X, Armaan wrote, “The soul itself realises when it is time to change paths, as what lies ahead no longer serves its highest purpose. I don’t know where this river will meet the sea again, but I trust its flow and the divine grace guiding it. Best wishes for the magic yet to come! Arijit Singh shared his announcement late Tuesday night on social media, stating, “Hello, wishing you all a very Happy New Year. Thank you for the immense love you have given me over the years as a listener. I am happy to inform you that from now on, I will not take any new work as a playback singer. I am ending it here. It has been a wonderful journey.”
It is important to note that although Arijit Singh is stepping away from playback singing in Hindi films, he is not retiring from music altogether. He plans to focus on international projects and independent music. In 2027, he will embark on a world tour featuring live shows as well as virtual reality concerts.
