New Delhi, August 9: A three-day warm-up match is underway between India and the Sri Lanka Cricket XI at the Nondescripts Cricket Club ground in Colombo. The Sri Lanka Cricket XI declared their second innings at 200 runs for the loss of 6 wickets, setting a target of 207 runs for India.
The Sri Lankan team did not start their second innings well. Ravindu Rasanjana, who scored a half-century in the first innings, was dismissed by Mohammad Siraj for just 8 runs. Pasindu Sooriabandara was clean bowled by Prasidh Krishna for 4 runs. Pawan Ratnayake also struggled with the bat, scoring only 16 runs. However, Nishan Madushka, who had previously scored a half-century, continued his impressive form, scoring 63 runs off 73 balls, including 10 boundaries, with a strike rate of 86.30.
Anjala Bandara contributed 35 runs off 48 balls, while captain Sonal Dinuja managed only 9 runs. Nipuna Dhananjaya showed good form, scoring 46 runs off 56 balls before being dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja. Ramesh Mendis remained not out at 16 runs. In contrast to the first innings, the Indian bowlers performed better in the second innings. Siraj and Prasidh Krishna bowled with good line and length, while Gurnoor Barar claimed 2 wickets. However, Aaqib Nabi struggled, conceding 27 runs in 5 overs, and Jadeja took 2 wickets for 33 runs.
Earlier, in response to Sri Lanka’s first innings total of 363 runs, the Indian team declared their innings at 357 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Devdutt Padikkal starred with the bat, scoring a remarkable 142 runs. Ravindra Jadeja contributed 63 runs, while Manav Suthar added 31 runs.
