Mumbai, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : Anil Kapoor recently reminisced about his childhood antics during an episode of the quiz show “India’s Top 1 Percent.” The actor shared a delightful story that still brings a smile to his face. Growing up in Tilak Nagar, Chembur, Mumbai, he and his friends would eagerly attend weddings regardless of whether they were invited.
Their excitement was palpable whenever they spotted a wedding. Invitations were irrelevant to them. They would dress up and head straight to the venue, greeting everyone with “Namaste,” pretending to be relatives to avoid suspicion.
Reflecting on those carefree days, Kapoor recalled, “We lived in Tilak Nagar, Chembur, where weddings were common. My friends and I loved crashing them. Who doesn’t enjoy free food and gifts? When there’s something free, people will go anywhere.”
However, the real draw for Kapoor wasn’t just the food. He had a particular fondness for Gold Spot and Mangola drinks. As soon as he arrived at a wedding, his eyes would be fixed on the cold beverage counter.
With a chuckle, he recounted, “I would go just for the Gold Spot and Mangola. We would greet everyone and head straight to the counter, often downing 11 or 12 bottles!”
He humorously linked his childhood escapades to the popular saying, “Begani shaadi mein Abdullah deewana,” suggesting it should be “Begani shaadi mein Anil Kapoor deewana.”
Kapoor is set to appear in a new light as the host of “India’s Top 1 Percent,” which will premiere on September 19 on Star Plus and will also be available on JioCinema.
