Andhra Pradesh Government Announces Financial Aid for Family of Deceased Medical Student

Amaravati, August 9: The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, announced a financial aid of 2 million rupees for the family of medical student K. Priyanka on Sunday. Priyanka tragically lost her life after being struck by a car driven by a drunk driver at a mall in Rajahmundry on August 3.

The Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow over the young student’s death, which occurred at a private hospital in Hyderabad. He described the incident as a heartbreaking loss of a promising young life with a bright future.

When the car hit Priyanka at the mall, she sustained severe injuries. Initially, she was treated at a local hospital, but her family later transferred her to Hyderabad for advanced care.

Naidu reviewed the incident with district officials and spoke with the District Collector and the Superintendent of Police (SP) to gather details about the case. The SP informed the Chief Minister that the individuals responsible for the incident had already been arrested.

Expressing concern over the loss of an innocent life due to negligence, Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to ensure that strict legal action is taken against the accused under appropriate laws. He also instructed them to provide the grieving family with the promised financial assistance of 2 million rupees. The Chief Minister reassured the family of the government’s ongoing support during this difficult time.

In his condolences to Priyanka’s family, Naidu emphasized that the death of a young medical student is an irreplaceable tragedy. He insisted that those responsible must face justice for their actions.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan remarked that Dr. Priyanka’s death is a tragic loss. He noted that reckless driving by intoxicated individuals in Rajahmundry led to her serious injuries. Kalyan lamented that her untimely death has cut short a future where she could have served many as a doctor.

He assured that the coalition government would take steps to ensure that the accused, whose reckless driving claimed a precious life, receives a severe punishment. He also extended heartfelt condolences to the family members.

Priyanka was pronounced dead by doctors at KIMS Hospital in Secunderabad on Sunday.
