Amaravati, April 16: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has instructed officials to make solid efforts to achieve a 15% growth rate in the state.
He urged them to implement micro and macro-level strategic planning to meet the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) targets. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for short-term, medium-term, and long-term plans to enhance productivity across various sectors.
During a review meeting of the finance department, he stated that effective implementation of grassroots plans is crucial for reaching the 15% growth target. According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), he directed officials to ensure that these plans are effectively executed at the village level.
The Chief Minister noted that the state is already providing essential services like water and electricity to the agriculture and industry sectors, but more focused efforts are required to boost productivity.
He mentioned that despite financial pressures, the government has not increased electricity rates and is bearing an additional burden of ₹4,600 crore due to decisions made by the previous administration.
Naidu instructed revenue-generating departments to achieve their targets without imposing additional burdens on the public. He stated that the completion of major projects like Amaravati and Polavaram will significantly boost asset creation in the state.
He assured that there will be no shortage of funds for priority projects and that these initiatives will be expedited with the support of the central government. He also urged officials to better utilize central government schemes like ‘Uday’ and ‘SASCI’ to advance developmental work.
The Chief Minister reiterated that welfare schemes will be implemented according to the welfare calendar. He also emphasized the need to secure funds allocated to the state under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act.
Criticizing the previous government, he condemned the decision to close Anna Canteens and stated that the current administration is providing meals to the poor through 269 Anna Canteens across the state, despite challenges.
He stressed the need to enhance efficiency in government departments and simplify processes to attract investment and increase revenue.
The review meeting was attended by Finance Minister P. Ayyaula Keshav, Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad, Principal Secretary of the Finance Department Piyush Kumar, and several senior officials.
