Gandhinagar, May 17: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated a state-of-the-art fully automated milk processing and packaging unit at Madhur Dairy in Dashila village, Gandhinagar district, on Sunday.
Madhur Dairy, affiliated with the Amul Federation under the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), is a cooperative dairy organization committed to the economic development of local milk producers and providing quality dairy products under the ‘Madhur’ and ‘Amul’ brands at reasonable prices. Established on February 6, 1971, with the support of cooperative workers and just 3-4 milk societies, the dairy initially collected only 6,433 liters of milk daily. Today, that figure has surged to 250,327 liters per day.
Constructed at a cost of approximately ₹128 crores, this modern plant has an initial milk processing capacity of 250,000 liters per day, which can be expanded to 500,000 liters as needed. With this new facility, Madhur Dairy’s total processing and packaging capacity will rise to 500,000 liters per day, solidifying its position as the largest cooperative dairy union in Gandhinagar district.
The new dairy plant will benefit both milk producers and consumers associated with Madhur Dairy. It will enable the processing of all milk collected from local producers, ensuring they receive fair and profitable prices for their milk. Consumers will gain access to high-quality milk and a variety of new dairy products. Additionally, the milk production capacity of GCMMF will see further enhancement.
Madhur Dairy has always been dedicated to the welfare of its milk producer members and the development of the cooperative sector. In recent years, the dairy has made significant progress in both business and cooperative development. Under its long-term growth strategy, Madhur Dairy is rapidly expanding through various infrastructure projects and new initiatives, ensuring continuous economic prosperity for milk producers across the district.
The inauguration was attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat BJP President Jagdish Vishwakarma, Gujarat’s Minister of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, and Fisheries Jitu Vaghani, Gujarat Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary, GCMMF President Ashok Chaudhary, GCMMF Managing Director Jayen Mehta, Gujarat State Registrar M.P. Pandya, and several other distinguished guests.
