Mumbai, April 19: Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Bhoot Bangla’ has kicked off 2026 with a high-profile horror comedy. The movie has made a strong debut at the Indian box office. Thanks to its pre-release buzz, ‘Bhoot Bangla’ has crossed the ₹47 crore mark in just two days.
Despite the competition from ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge,’ ‘Bhoot Bangla’ is performing well. On its opening day, the film collected an impressive ₹21.60 crore, followed by ₹25.65 crore on the second day. In total, the film has amassed ₹47.25 crore over these two days, and analysts predict a significant increase in earnings over the first weekend.
Media reports suggest that the film could earn between ₹20-22 crore on Sunday. ‘Bhoot Bangla’ is particularly special as it marks the return of the iconic duo of Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan to the screen after a long hiatus. The pair has previously collaborated on several successful comedies, and audiences have been eagerly awaiting their reunion. Their last project together was the 2010 film ‘Khata Meetha.’
Additionally, the film features Tabu, who last appeared with Akshay Kumar in ‘Hera Pheri.’ The film also showcases the comedic talent of Asrani, who has left fans in stitches with his performance. Although Asrani is no longer with us, he will also be seen in Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film ‘Havaan.’
In a recent interview, Akshay mentioned that films made with Priyadarshan tend to become superhits because the comedy flows naturally. Working with him creates an effortless comedic atmosphere, which enhances the overall performance.
