Rampur, October 20 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant political move, Akhilesh Yadav, the National President of the Samajwadi Party (SP), is scheduled to meet senior party leader Azam Khan on October 22 at Rampur Jail. The meeting is set to last approximately 45 minutes, and it has already sparked various political reactions.
SP spokesperson Fakhrul Hasan Chand confirmed the visit, stating that Yadav will also inquire about Khan’s health during their discussion. This meeting comes amid ongoing tensions between the SP and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Chand criticized the BJP government, alleging that it has misused agencies to file multiple cases against Khan and has attempted to undermine educational institutions. He emphasized that Yadav intends to address these concerns during their meeting.
Looking ahead, Chand expressed confidence that the Samajwadi Party will form the government in Uttar Pradesh in 2027. He assured that once in power, the party would work to withdraw all cases against Azam Khan.
The meeting has also drawn comments from the Congress party. Spokesperson Surendra Rajput praised the initiative, calling Khan a senior leader and a long-time associate of the late Mulayam Singh Yadav. He accused the BJP of treating Khan with hostility and noted that Yadav’s visit would send a positive message throughout the state, boosting Khan’s morale.
