Lucknow, March 6: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has expressed disappointment over Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s decision to join the Rajya Sabha. He remarked that while they had hoped Kumar would become Prime Minister, he is now set to retire as a member of the Rajya Sabha.
Yadav made these comments while attending an Iftar party in Lucknow. Speaking to the media, he stated that those familiar with politics understand the intentions of the Bharatiya Janata Party from day one. He reiterated that they had collectively wished for Kumar to ascend to the Prime Minister’s position, but now he will conclude his political journey as a Rajya Sabha member.
Regarding the resignation of West Bengal Governor C.V. Anand Bose, Yadav commented on the potential for more resignations following the elections in Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.
Reflecting on the Iftar party, the SP leader expressed gratitude to Maulana Sahib for providing the opportunity to celebrate Iftar together daily. He emphasized that this reflects the Indian spirit, where people come together to celebrate each other’s festivals. This collective celebration showcases the unity of their culture, known as Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb, where diverse thoughts, religions, and communities coexist peacefully.
On the issue concerning Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand, Yadav appealed to the public, stating that if such treatment can happen to the Shankaracharya today, it could happen to anyone tomorrow. He criticized the government for instilling fear and disrespecting individuals. He noted the pain the Shankaracharya must have felt when faced with false allegations, asserting that no government in the past has subjected the Shankaracharya to such humiliation.
In response to a question, Yadav clarified that the Samajwadi Party does not support war. He stated that they have never endorsed conflict, as war leads to loss and destruction, with always tragic outcomes.
