Lucknow, June 6: Ajay Rai, the President of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee and former minister, visited Ghazipur on Saturday. He met with the family of Vinay Rai, a hotelier who was tragically murdered, to express his condolences. After visiting the grieving family at their residence in Ashtabhuj Colony, Ajay Rai targeted the state government over its handling of law and order. He remarked that while the Chief Minister claims to maintain zero tolerance towards crime, the state is shaken by a series of murders from Ghaziabad to Ghazipur.
Rai accused the government of failing to address the issue effectively, stating that Vinay Rai’s murder was not just a criminal incident but a result of administrative negligence. He noted that the family had previously faced attacks, assaults, and vandalism at their hotel, yet no timely action was taken by the authorities. If the administration had acted decisively and ensured proper security, this tragedy might have been averted.
He further pointed out that the ongoing murders in various districts, including Varanasi, Jaunpur, Lucknow, Ghaziabad, and Ghazipur, expose the government’s claims as hollow. Ajay Rai alleged that the government is resorting to encounter politics to cover its failures, which does not provide justice for the affected families.
He emphasized that criminals no longer fear the law. He claimed that the lack of timely and effective action against offenders is contributing to the rise in crime. Rai referenced the Nohra police station incident, mentioning that no action has been taken against the responsible police personnel in the case of BJP worker Siyarama Upadhyay’s death. He highlighted that incidents of violence and death are occurring even within police stations, reflecting a serious breakdown in law and order.
Ajay Rai demanded that the state government take strict action against those responsible for Vinay Rai’s murder and fulfill all legitimate demands of the victim’s family. After his visit to Ghazipur, he traveled to Varanasi, where he met the family of Firoz, who was murdered in the Pindra assembly area, to offer his condolences.
He concluded by stating that the entire Congress family stands with the grieving families during this difficult time and will make every effort to secure justice.
