Afghanistans Ambassador Calls Pakistan the Sole Threat to National Security

Afghanistans ambassador condemns Pakistan as a major threat, alleging support for terrorist groups during a security conference in Moscow.

Kabul, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : Afghanistan views Pakistan as the primary threat to its national security and regional stability. This assertion was made by Gul Hasan, Afghanistan’s ambassador in Moscow, during a joint security conference involving the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

In his remarks, Hasan accused Islamabad of harboring various terrorist organizations, including ISIS (Daesh). Afghan media outlet Tolo News reported that he claimed these groups are active within Pakistan and have attempted to infiltrate Afghanistan.

“We must clearly state that the threat to our region’s security and stability is emanating from Pakistan,” Hasan said. He further alleged that Pakistan not only shelters armed opponents of the Afghan government but also fosters an environment conducive to drug trafficking and Daesh activities.

These claims are not baseless, according to Hasan, who urged attention to reports in both Pakistani and international media. He accused Pakistan of providing favorable conditions for these groups to operate, recruit new members, and raise funds.

Hasan detailed incidents where hundreds of armed fighters linked to these terrorist organizations were reportedly transported from Pakistan’s Chitral region into Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province on July 23. He noted a similar attempt occurred on September 25 in the Kamdesh district of Nuristan province.

According to Hasan, during these operations, Pakistani military forces not only directly led the groups but also conducted aerial bombings in various Afghan provinces. He also alleged that Afghan border posts, located along the routes of these infiltrators, were targeted with artillery and heavy weaponry.

Meanwhile, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid recently accused Pakistani officials of attempting to disrupt the peace dialogue. He criticized senior Pakistani officials for focusing on propaganda rather than seeking solutions, labeling it as Islamabad’s “failed policy.”

On social media platform X, Mujahid stated that blaming Afghanistan for Pakistan’s failures will not resolve the latter’s issues, highlighting serious concerns regarding Pakistan’s political, security, social, and economic crises.
