Adani Energy Solutions Secures ₹4,700 Crore Transmission Project in Maharashtra

Mumbai, August 26: Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) announced on Wednesday that it has won a ₹4,700 crore transmission project aimed at delivering 4,500 megawatts of renewable energy generated in Karnataka to major electricity consumption centers in Maharashtra.

This project will also support the rapidly developing pumped storage systems in Satara, Pune, and the Mumbai metropolitan region.

According to the company’s statement, the project was secured through a tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process, where AESL emerged as the lowest bidder.

AESL’s CEO, Kandar Patel, stated, “Pumped storage projects are becoming a crucial medium for India’s clean energy transition. They provide the necessary flexibility and reliability to integrate large-scale renewable energy into the grid.”

He added that the Satara transmission project will establish a critical transmission network for both renewable energy evacuation and energy storage expansion, thereby strengthening the flow of electricity between southern and western India.

The project, under the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) Satara Power Transmission Limited, is set to be completed within 36 months.

According to the company, the project will add 562 circuit kilometers (CKM) of transmission lines and 9,000 MVA of transformation capacity to AESL’s portfolio. Following this, the company’s total transmission network will expand to 29,739 CKM, with a transformation capacity of 143,425 MVA.

Patel emphasized, “AESL is committed to developing future-ready transmission infrastructure that enables the expansion of renewable energy, enhances grid stability, and supports India’s long-term decarbonization goals.”

The project includes the establishment of a 765/400 kV substation in Satara, a Kolhapur-Satara 765 kV double-circuit transmission line, and the expansion of the Kolhapur pooling station along with related transmission infrastructure.

India is progressing towards its goal of establishing 500 gigawatts of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030. In line with this, AESL is developing specialized transmission networks that connect areas rich in renewable energy resources, such as solar, wind, and pumped storage, to the country’s major industrial and urban electricity consumption centers.
